Conservatory makeover

-

The past few years has seen a marked change in the style of roof systems available to conservatory buyers and owners. These hybrid systems have glass in a conservatory roof but also offer integrated ceiling options that provide markedly better temperature control and lighting solutions. The effect is that the conservatory feels like an extra room on the house.

Livinroom

The best of both worlds combining the light and sky of a conservatory with the walls and ceiling of an extension.

REALROOF

This offers a vaulted plastered ceiling on the inside enhancing the feeling of space. It can be dressed on the outside with tiles or slates to match those of your home.

Replacement glass roofs The likelihood is that your old, tired roof features polycarbonate – this was a wonder material in its day. Opaque to allow light through it was strong flexible and at the time quite thermally efficient. But times have moved on and one of the best ways to ‘refresh’ your existing conservatory is to replace this with a new high-performance glass roof. The solar control glass available today has a special coating that keeps out up to 86 per cent of solar gain but with maximum light transmission of up to 70 per cent. In winter, it keeps in 50 per cent more heat than a normal double glazed unit, reducing heating and air conditioning costs.
