League & national success at Crablands

In the West Sussex League (Men’s) Division 2 away to Pagham, Crablands won 90-53 for 10 points.

Scores: John Thorp, Mark Heasman and Alan Bateman won 26-14; Richard Green, Lew Lewendon and John Cornwell won 22-11; Dave Evans, Peter Blackman and Richard Humphrey won 22-15; Nigel Crump, Mike Lockyer and Derek Clacey won 20-13.

In the GSM League (Ladies) Division 2, Crablands Green side won at Storringto­n 47 -32 for six points.

Scores: Elaine Sadler, Carole Cornwell, Joan Adams and Mollie Back won 2718; Sheila Plaistow, Julia Mcclaren, Lesley Duff and Sue Blyth won 20-14.

In a National Mens’ Pairs game, Ian Ford and Paul Chuter overcame a Pulborough pair.

Ian Ford beat Roger Dear from Pagham at home in the Mens’ County Area Final competitio­n.

The club’s two-wood Singles (yardstick) was played to the final stage, with victory for Sheila Jones and Sarah Fewster. Mike Lockyer will play Derek Clacey.

In the Midhurst Cup competitio­n, Crablands beat Pagham 78-62.

Home: Chris Lewendon, Sue Blyth and Ian Ford won 26 -13; Elaine Sadler, Lew Lewendon and Carol Bowles won 2013; Away: Carole Cornwell, Val Foyle and Mollie Back won 20-16; Richard Green, John Cornwell and Tony Dade lost 12-20.

In the Brooks Motors League at Fishbourne, Crablands lost 22-50.

Scores: John Thorp, Cheryl Brown and Mollie Back lost 16-20; Chris and Barbara Bond with Joan Adams lost 6-30; (friendly): Sheila Plaistow, Sarah Fewster and Alan Blyth 13-16.

In the Men’s County Senior fours Crablands won at West Hoathly in the quarter-finals. as Richard Humphrey, Nigel Crump, Tony Dade and Ian Ford won 16-13.
