Thank you for all your support

As I type this, I am still in a shock that V2 Radio has turned one. It feels like only a few months ago we were all hands on deck, soldering irons, paint brushes and screw drivers flying about in haste to launch a proper local radio station in a very short time frame with a limited budget! I spent endless days and nights loading the music onto the system with each track requiring manual set-up – and with something in the region of 15,000 tracks to deal with it wasn’t an easy task.

It was a huge effort to get everything done and to make it all sound spot on – but as we are fond of saying here at V2 Radio ‘Team work makes the dream work’!

With this is mind, it wasn’t just the hard work and dedication of the team – there are also some other very important people that I’d like to thank.

I would like to say a massive thank you to you, on behalf of all of us.

Thank you for choosing us and welcoming us into your hearts, homes, cars and businesses, giving us the opportunity to carry on doing what we absolutely love – creating proper local radio for West Sussex and supporting the local area and communities as best we can.

Thank you to everyone that got involved with the crowdfunder that helped us kickstart the station– without you, none of this would have even been possible.

And thank you to all of the team at the Observer for all of your support.

January 18 was our first birthday so we decided to base the celebrations around one of the core promises when we first launched – to support and raise awareness and funds for local charities.

The charity of choice was Carers Support West Sussex. We asked our listeners and clients to set us random challenges, from seeing who could eat dry crackers the quickest, how many marshmallows we could fit our mouths while still being able to speak and playing egg roulette live on air.

Generally, just making fools of ourselves in the name of a fantastic cause.

It was so much fun and more importantly helped raise over £500 for Carers Support West Sussex, who work tirelessly for unpaid carers.

With more than 120,000 carers in this county and more than 26,000 carers currently registered with the charity, they run support groups, a carer response line and help carers access equipment to assist them in their caring role or provide funds so that carers can do something for themselves.
