Heartsmart walks

Arranged by trained volunteer leaders, Heartsmart walks aim to show people routes, encourage them to keep their hearts healthy and help them meet other people to walk with. Here are this week’s planned walks:

March 12, 10.15am – Graylingwe­ll. A 40-minute, 1.25-mile flat walk at a gentle pace, enjoying the history of Graylingwe­ll Park and surroundin­g areas. Meet: Outside the Pavilion at Havenstoke Park.

March 14, 10.30am – Chichester Canal. A 30-minute, one-mile flat walk at a gentle pace, suitable for beginners. Meet: Chichester Canal, PO19 8DT.

March 14, 10.30am – Fishbourne. A 75-minute, 2.6-mile flat circular walk with some stiles around Fishbourne Centre’s fields, the eastern coastal path, country paths and lanes. Meet: Fishbourne Center Car Park, PO18 8BE.

March 14, 10.30am – Shimmings Valley, Petworth. A 90-minute, three-mile through Little Switzerlan­d with a little hilly climb. Meet: Petworth Library, GU28 0AU.

March 14, 2pm – Madehurst Circular. A 2.5 to three-hour, six-mile varied walk through farmlands, foresty and Downs. No dogs. Meet: Layby at Fairmile Bottom on the northbound A29 by Public Footpath fingerpost.

March 15, 11am – Midhurst Jubilee Walk and South Pond. A 30-minute, one-mile walk at a gentle pace with a steady incline to the top of the jubilee path and a small bridge over the pond. Meet: The Grange Leisure Centre, GU29 9HD.

March 16, 10.30am – Singleton to West Dean. A three to 3.5-hour, seven-mile walk starting with a steep climb up Levin Down and across to West Dean and a steep descent down Hat Hill. Some uneven paths and three stiles. Meet: Outside Singleton Primary School, PO18 0HP.

March 16, 10.30am – Climping. A 75-minute, 2.5mile walk along dunes and beach to Climping Mill, then across fields to Ferry Road and Rope Walk to the Yacht Club. Meet: Arun Yacht Club Car Park, Rope Walk, Littlehamp­ton, BN17 5DL.

March 18, 10.30am – Compton Sussex Border Path Idsworth. A 3.75-hour, eightmile walk with some uphill sections and stiles. Meet: Compton Recreation Ground
