Heartsmart walks

Arranged by trained volunteer leaders, Heartsmart walks aim to show people routes, encourage them to keep their hearts healthy and help them meet other people to walk with. Here are this week’s planned walks:

March 25, 10.30am – North Marden. A twohour, three-mile walk up to Telegraph House. Meet: In farmyard outside remote, well hidden North Marden Church.

March 25, 10.30am – Stoughton Down. A 2.5-hour, 5.5-mile hilly walk with great views but can be muddy and slippery in places. No dogs. Meet: Stoughton Down Car Park east of Stoughton on the sharp bend (PO18 9JQ).

March 27, 10.30am – Burpham. A 2.5-hour, fivemile hilly walk with some stiles and lovely views. Meet: The public car park behind the George at Burpham (BN18 9RR).

March 28, 10.30am – Chichester Canal. A 30-minute, one-mile flat walk at a gentle pace, suitable for beginners. Meet: Chichester Canal, PO19 8DT.

March 28, 11am – Bosham Harbour and Villlage. A 45-minute, 1.5-mile, circular flat walk with no stiles and wheelchair friendly. Meet: Bosham car park, PO18 8HZ, at Bosham Public Toilets.

March 29, 10.30am – Midhurst Cowdray Collosus. A two-hour, four-mile circular walk. Meet: Main car park just north of the centre of Midhurst, behind the bus station (GU29 9DW).

March 29, 11am – Midhurst Jubilee Walk and South Pond. A 30-minute, one-mile walk at a gentle pace with a steady incline to the top of the jubilee path and a small bridge over the pond. Meet: The Grange Leisure Centre, GU29 9HD.

March 30, 10.30am – Slindon. A three-hour, sixmile walk to the folly and through Slindon Woods, with some steep gradients. Meet: National Trust Car Park at Park Lane, Slindon, BN18 0QY.

March 30, 10.30am – Pagham Harbour RSPB Reserve to North Wall Pagham. A three-hour, 5.5mile flat linear walk. Can be muddy, uneven and slippery. Dogs welcome on leads. Not suitable for wheelchairs. Meet: RSPB Pagham Reserve Car Park, Selsey Road, PO20 7NE.
