Heartsmart walks

Arranged by trained volunteer leaders, Heartsmart walks aim to show people routes, encourage them to keep their hearts healthy and help them meet other people to walk with. Here are this week’s planned walks:

April 25, 10.30am – Chichester Canal. A 30-minute, one-mile flat walk at a gentle pace, suitable for beginners. Meet: Chichester Canal, PO19 8DT.

April 25, 10.30am – Longer Bosham Walk. A 75-minute, 2.75-mile mostly flat walk, not suitable for complete beginners or wheelchair­s. Meet: Bosham Business Centre Car Park (next to the Co-op off Delling Lane, PO18 8NN).

April 25, 2pm – Lurgashall and Temple of the Winds. A 3-3.5-hour, 5.5-mile challengin­g uphill walk with some steep paths, and country lanes. No dogs. Meet: By St Laurence Church, opposite the Noah’s Ark Pub and Village Green in Lurgashall.

April 26, 11am – Midhurst Jubilee Walk and South Pond. A 30-minute, one-mile walk at a gentle pace with a steady incline to the top of the jubilee path and a small bridge over the pond. Meet: The Grange Leisure Centre, GU29 9HD.

April 27, 10.30am – Eartham Woods. A 2-2.5hour, 5.5-mile walk through Eartham Woods, coming back along Stane Street. No stiles. Meet: Forestry Commission Car Park, Eartham.

April 27, 10.30am – East Head and West Wittering Beach. A 2.5-hour, four-mile flat circular walk with some loose sand and pebbles. Dogs welcome but will need to be on leads while passing livestock and birds. Not suitable for wheelchair­s. Meet: Memorial Hall Car Park, West Wittering.

April 28, 10.30am – Stopham. A two-hour, ten-minute, 4.75-miles moderately strenuous walk with a 200m ascent and three stiles. Meet: Stopham Church (Nearby postcode RH20 1EG).

April 28, 10am – Onslow Arms, Loxwood. A 2.5-3hour, 5.5-mile fairly level walk with two stiles. Meet: In the car park behind the Onslow Arms.

April 29, 10.30am – Amberley Village. A two-hour, four-mile mile walk through Amberley village and back round the castle and along the river Arun. Meet: Car park at Amberley Station.
