Chichester City Colts can celebrate cup final double

-

It was a successful one for two of Chichester’s young football teams.

Chichester City Colts under-nines Reds and Blacks both qualified for their respective finals in the Saywell International (Arun and Chichester) Youth League.

Colts U9 Reds (pictured, back page) played Wick Dynamos Black in the Kathy & Peter Wilson Cup final at Littlehampton.

The teams had played several times during the season in close encounters.

Defences were on top before a stunning strike from Ollie Morgan broke the deadlock just before half-time.

This first goal changed the match and Wick played some great football as they looked for the equaliser, but the Colts Reds managed a second on the break with a fine strike from Arran Neilson.

Colts Reds then played some flowing football and further goals from ollie Morgan and Edward Ireland sealed the win 4-0.

The score didn’t reflect the fine performance from the Wick team, particularly their goalkeeper Louis Swift, who had no chance with any of the goals, all of which were fine strikes from the edge of the box. The Colts Blacks reached the Chichester & Arun Wase final in their first season as a team, facing Worthing Dynamos.

Chichester suffered a setback by conceding early on but captain Keegan Hodge levelled with a brilliant bending free kick into the far corner.

With extra time looming a handball in the Worthing area led to a penalty and Dexter Tyler converted to make it 2-1. Chichester held on to lift the cup in front of a packed stand.
