Falcons’ season off to flying start

-

Chichester Falcons Baseball & Softball Club got the 2022 season off to a roaring start, with a tournament win and two player development events which are sure to set strong foundations.

The senior slowpitch team headed to the Solent League Firstball tournament in Portsmouth, where they battled with other league teams in a one-day round robin.

Having dispatched Southsea Sharks, Solent Oddballs and Portsmouth Pirates, the Falcons were in the grand final to take on Solent Sluggers. Chichester won by one single run to bring the trophy home.

In Slough, four players from Chichester were competing at the Great Britain Fastpitch Softball League.

Olly Howley and Raul Dodson-richi were playing for Eagles and Hawks - the unofficial format of the GB men’s teams – while Amy Morris and Bronte Harvey pitched well for the Free Agents in the women's division.

A team of (mostly) junior Falcons headed to Slough for the BSUK Slowpitch Cup tournament.

Helped out by a sprinkling of Falcons coaches, the juniors bravely fought their way through games against Maidenhead, Jersey, Coventry and Bracknell, getting their reward in the form of a resounding 30-17 win over Baffins Brewers from Portsmouth.

Nathan Wyborn later won the TSSC Player of the Week award.

Action conitinues throughout May and anyone who wants to try softball and join the Falcons can email chichesterfalcons@gmail. com or visit www.chichesterfalcons.com
