Trojans 3rd 1 Chichester Ladies 3 Chichester Hockey Club’s ladies ones travelled to Trojans for their first match of the 2022-23 season.

Chichester started the season off with a 3-1 win.

It took Chichester 10 minutes to get settled before Gemma Warr scored Chi’s first goal, after a through ball from Verena Grave - giving everyone a boost of energy.

A defence made up of Collins, Stanley, Thomas, Smith and Radford did an amazing job keeping Trojans well away from the D and preventing any goalscoring opportunities.

At half-time it remained 1-0 to Chichester.

Chichester came back after half time wanting more, having the majority of possession in the second half.

Gammon fired the ball into the D but nobody could quite get the rebound.

Another save from the Trojans goalie found the ball at Grave’s stick, and she took the rebound and scored with a brilliant reverse hit.

A counter attack saw Trojans score a goal which made the score 2-1. Chichester were still ahead, with man of the match Webster working hard down the right wing.

Keeping the ball in the attacking half allowed Chichester to keep having opportunities in the D, leading to Grave getting her second of the match with an assist from Greenlees.

A final score of 3-1 was pleasing for Chichester Ladies ones in their first match of the season, leaving everyone with high spirits to tackle the rest of the season.

This week they are at home (at Chichester College) versus Andover 1st (3pm pushback).
