It has been a busy two weeks on the sporting front at Bishop Luffa School.

Josh Ward (9King) has been selected to play for Harlequins

Rugby Academy U14s team.

Our Year 7 and 8 boys and girls Sports Hall Athletics teams all qualified for the Sussex Schools County Championsh­ip finals at the end of March, with all four teams qualifying in 1st place from the West Sussex West regional competitio­n.

Ben Stewart (8Andrewes), Kitty Goodband (8Andrewes) and

Max Gayle (7Burrows) represente­d Sussex at the Regional

Sports Hall Athletics Finals and helped both teams finish in 3rd place.

Ben Stewart finished in 1st place in the first round race of the Chichester Corporate Challenge, Ben was extremely close to beating the record for a Year 8 in the competitio­n which is currently held by former Bishop Luffa student and now teacher, Mr West. Ben will have two further opportunit­ies to try and beat this long standing record in the next two races. Monty Hill (10King) and Noah Collins (10Burrows) came 2nd and 3rd in the Year 9 and 10 race.

There was further sporting success on Tuesday 28th February when our Year 7 and 8 Cross Country team competed in the Sussex Schools junior competitio­n. The Year 8 boys were the 2nd fastest team around the course, with Max Gayle (7Burrows) finishing 11th, Matty Mainwairin­g (8Sherborne) finishing in 6th, Ben Stewart (8Andrewes) 10th, Elodie Hill (8King) 9th and Isla Hill (8Otter) 20th. All students who finished in the top 20 qualify for the Inter Counties Cross Country match later this month .

Year 9 boys' football team are our first league winners of the season.
