Incredible support gets its reward

-

Max Bird has claimed two wins and two second places from four starts in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB championship to lead the Proam Porsche championship after the first two rounds of eight in the series.

The opening round of the championship at Donington was run in very wet conditions.

And despite this being the 22-year-old from Chidham’s first race weekend in the car Bird qualified eighth overall and went on to win the Proam category in both races in very wet conditions that saw a number of the more experienced competitors going off the track in the pouring rain.

The second round at Brands Hatch two weeks later saw a wet qualifying in which Bird qualified sixth overall followed by dry races in which he finished in second place in the Proam category in both races.

He also set the fastest lap in each, adding to his championship score and enabling him to maintain a 10-point lead at the top of the Proam championship table.

The Porsche championship moves to Thruxton in Hampshire on June 3 and 4 where Bird will once again be competing for Proam honours.

The Thruxton races can been seen live on ITV4 at 10.50 and 15.15.

Bird’s success has resulted in him receiving considerable coverage on ITV4, and as a result he has recently attracted support from Crypto Savings Expert, the Crypto One Stop shop that is the future of crypto education and training, who are joining existing partners for the rest of 2023.

Bognor Regis Town bosses have frozen the prices of admission and season tickets ahead of the new Isthmian premier division campaign to reward supporters for their ‘incredible support’.

It means fans who might be struggling due to the increases in cost of living face no hike in the prices to see Robbie Blake's men next season.

Bognor general manager Simon Cook said the club recognised a need to play its part in ensuring affordability for supporters.

He said: "In these difficult times we recognise that many supporters and their families are facing increases in the cost of living and we have therefore decided to keep admission prices at last season's levels, even though our own operating costs are rising significantly.

"Everyone knows Rocks fans are some of the best around and certainly manager Robbie Blake has often hailed their incredible support.

"They make a big difference at games, both home and away, and this gesture is by way of a reward for the level of backing the team gets."
