Former mental health nurse is trust’s new chair
Sean Duggan OBE has been appointed as chair of Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, joining the trust from the NHS Confederation Mental Health Network.
Dr Jane Padmore, CEO, said: "I'm delighted to announce our Council of Governors has approved the appointment of Sean Duggan OBE as our new chair from April 2024. A mental health nurse by background, Sean has been the Chief Executive of the NHS Confederation
Mental Health Network since 2016. He is a Professorial Fellow at the Institute of Mental Health and in 2013 was awarded the President’s Medal by the Royal College of Psychiatrists. He was also awarded an OBE in the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Honours List in recognition of his 40 years of service dedicated to mental health service delivery.
“I want to take this opportunity to thank Peter Molyneux, whose term of office as Chair comes to an end on March 31, 2024. Peter joined the Trust as chair on April 1, 2018. A passionate advocate for people with mental health problems and learning disabilities, Peter has been instrumental in our work to continuously improve the quality of care we provide to the local communities we serve."
Sean Duggan said: "I am absolutely delighted to be appointed chair to an organisation I respect and admire. As a Sussex resident for over 30 years, now with five grandchildren living locally, I want to play my part in continuing to improve health outcomes for our population, working with our system partners. I also want to help ensure our staff are valued and have every opportunity to flourish in their professional careers.”
