Talks at Six forum in the city
A varied programme is coming up at the award-winning Talks at Six forum in Chichester.
The promise is interesting talks on a wide range of subjects in a relaxed atmosphere followed by active discussion. Admission is free with a suggested donation £5+ (by card at the venue) to the speaker’s chosen charity. Talks take place at the Bassil Shippam Centre, Tozer Way, St Pancras, Chichester, PO19 7LG. On The Goodwood Estate by Mark Roberts. A large temple has been discovered within the Goodwood Estate. Connecting the site to other roads and trackways is a purpose-built processional way and a monument at Carne’s Seat. Chosen Charity: Royal Society for Blind Children

Thursday, April 25: The Royal Marines Band Service by Lt Col Huw Williams. The talk will include a short history of the Royal Marines Band Service, and reflections from a well-travelled military musician. Huw joined the RM Band Service aged 17 in Deal, Kent and has progressed through the ranks. Chosen Charity: RNRMC
Thursday, May 23: Crossdressed to Kill by Vivien Morgan. The talk tells how and why hundreds of extraordinary young women dressed as men to fight as soldiers in the 17th-19th centuries. Chosen Charity: Medecins sans Frontieres UK
Thursday, June 6: Biodiversity and the Wey and Arun Canal by Ian Burton. The talk illustrates the biodiversity, challenges and opportunities in the restoration of London’s lost waterway to the sea. Chosen Charity: Arun Canal Trust.
Thursday, June 27: The A6 Murder by Paul Stickler. In 1962, James Hanratty was hanged for the murder of Michael Gregsten in what would infamously become known as the A6 Murder.
