Dear Classic American,

Part one of Americans at the Motor Show looked great, except that the 1965 show was actually the 50th Motor Show, as I originally stated, not the 60th as it appears in the magazine. It was known as 50th because there had been 50 shows. There were no shows during the First World War and the Second World War. Perhaps it is not factually accurate to call it an ‘anniversary’, but that’s how Motor magazine referred to it.

London Motor Horseless Carriage Shows actually started in South Kensington in 1896, although the very first motor exhibition was held at Tunbridge Wells in 1895. Crystal Palace was the venue from 1903 ... just in case anyone queries it.
