KINGSTOWN TRUCK GIVEAWAY!

-

Classic American advertiser and global shipping specialist Kingstown recently gave away a Ford F150 pick-up truck to raise funds for charity. The California truck was a 1977 Ford F150 Ranger, built at the San Jose, California plant and was ordered for sale in the San Jose district, so had spent a lot of time in Northern California and was last registered in Yuba City, where it was a daily driver before it was shipped across. Featuring a big-block 460cu in V8 and automatic transmission, you can be sure this Ford has stump-pulling powers in abundance! Classic American asked Stephen Shores, Kingstown’s director, about the give-away: “With the show season pretty much non-existent for 2020 amid the coronavirus pandemic and the widely publicised effects the situation was also having on mental health and charities who relied on fundraising events that had been cancelled, we decided to put our show funds into the purchase, shipping and transport of a truck from the US to give away!” Stephen said. “Our aim was to document the full process – purchase, payment, transport, shipping, Customs clearance, delivery and DVLA registration and give it away to one lucky winner. With the help of a car finder we have worked with for many years (Discovery Classics) our vehicle was sourced, purchased on our behalf and transported to the warehouse ready for shipping. The vehicle sailed from Oakland, California on August 22 and arrived into Southampton on September 25. The prize draw took place on September 30 and the lucky winner chosen was Sean Royce. “The difficult part was choosing two charities to support as so many are struggling with a lot of their fundraising events cancelled. We chose Mind for better mental health to represent this part of the pandemic, and Dove House Hospice which is a hospice in our city who do a lot of good work and offer huge support to families and the sick.” Kingstown’s website page features more info, but what a great way to raise money, make an American truck fan’s dream come true and add another great classic truck on to the British American scene.
