Show us the right way!
Dear Classic American,
Like many other Classic American readers, I’m delighted that shows have returned and we can once again enjoy looking at our favourite cars outdoors and relax in the sun – it is after all what we’ve been told we can do, as long as we follow the ‘hands, face, space’ maxims. The only thing that bothers me slightly is how every show is different, so far I’ve been to three different events and they varied from the zealously enforced, where we were ordered to wear masks and barked at by Covid marshals and made to check in and give our details and sanitise, to the most recent where, quite frankly there was no enforcement whatsoever and it was actually quite busy… unpleasantly so in fact! I’m not complaining, but it would be nice to know what to expect and of course, the $60 million question on everyone’s mind is: will the NEC Classic Car Show go ahead? It is after all indoors, not particularly well ventilated and going into winter, a time when Covid takes off again… James Burch

It is good to be able to go to shows again, although different show organisers do seem to take different approaches to their events, even though really they should all be following the same rules. All of this may be irrelevant by the time this magazine comes out however, as the proposal is for all restrictions to be lifted by July 19… only time will tell with that.
As for the NEC, as far as we are aware that event is going ahead over the weekend of November 12-14.
