1953 CHEVROLET CORVETTE

There wasn’t a home-built domestic sports car available in the US until Chevrolet’s Corvette arrived on the scene in 1953, but then, with a straight-six Stovebolt engine mated to a two-speed automatic transmission, many have questioned whether the original ‘glass-bodied’ Corvette was actually a sports car at all. Maybe not, but it certainly developed into one. A mere 300 of these all-American ragtops were produced by Chevrolet in 1953, all white with red interiors, so unfortunately they are as rare as hen’s teeth. Ah, well, no harm in dreaming…
