1955 PACKARD CARIBBEAN

An extravagant tribute to the era and one brimming with nostalgia, the Caribbean convertible displayed a frontal view which contained all the fashionable elements of the day; bullet-like overriders, browed headlights and a full-width Ferrari-inspired grille, featuring a crest which rivalled anything that could be found on an aristocrat’s smoking jacket. Though non-functional, the twin air scoops decorating the bonnet gave an impression that ample power was available – which was certainly the case with a 352cu in overhead-valve V8. Longer than most, heavier than most, and luxurious to the limit.
