1960 DODGE DART PHOENIX
Dodge models for the new decade featured unitary body/ chassis construction for the first time. They were relatively light, and offered good performance with what was then considered reasonable economy, as well as the innovative push-button automatic transmission first introduced in 1956. A guy named Norm Thatcher drove a supercharged Phoenix hardtop at Bonneville in 1960 and achieved a record speed of 192mph, as roughly 70,000 passenger cars with this unusual rear end treatment rolled off the production line.
