Keep it dry
As we all know, it’s more or less pointless taking your car off the road and putting it into storage for the winter unless you can guarantee that the environment it’s being stored in is bone dry. Meaco has just launched its quietest dehumidifier ever, the Meaco Arete One, which is available in 20 and 25-litre capacities. This new, attractive design is simple and easy to use and when the relative humidity is 15% above the target relative humidity, Arete One will run in maximum fan speed to bring the relative humidity down as fast as possible.
When the humidity has been reduced below that figure then the machine will slow down to the low fan speed, resulting in the best balance between fast dehumidification and the lowest possible noise level. It boasts a number of attractive features, including a ‘night mode’ that turns all the display lights off, drops the fan to the lowest speed and makes sure there are no bleeps or so on. There’s also a HEPA filter for air purification and as it operates on only 40 amps and is on casters, it’s easy to move (despite being quite heavy!). It also comes with a fiveyear parts and labour guarantee.
Another nifty feature is an add-on water pump that enables it to be drained down a sink or out of a window, meaning that it never requires emptying, so it can literally be left running unattended for weeks or months at a time. This latter feature, enabling it to just be left to run, is a game changer and makes a very attractive, if somewhat pricey addition to any garage.
