Mystery wagon
Dear Classic American,
Attached are two photos from a holiday we had back in the early Eighties. We hired a car from what then was known as Rent-A-Wreck. I am not sure what it was, maybe a Pontiac, but not certain... do you have any idea what it is? It was perfect for our holiday as there were seven of us! Great magazine – I loved the Station Wagon issue, shame we do not see more about.

Well Dave, we reckon it’s a 1976 or 1977 Pontiac Le Mans (or Grand Le Mans) station wagon, probably now cubed and resurrected as five Kias or Hyundais! We remember Rent-a-Wreck well and it’s a shame they’re no longer around, as driving a real old American behemoth like that Pontiac wagon is so much more fun than being forced into a brand-new Honda Accord… and perfect for the all-American road trip!
