Bennett’s big beautiful Buick
Dear Classic American,
I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed reading the feature on Andrew Bennett’s Buick Wildcat last month. MidSixties GM full-size cars like Le Sabres, Wildcats, Olds 88s, Pontiac Catalinas and Chevy Impalas seem to be very much overlooked by the American car community and I can’t understand for the life of me why, as they represent such good value and are such handsome things. They offer plenty of space, easy and cheap spares and are so reliable and well-built, you could almost use them as a daily driver (although the fuel costs might make that prohibitive!). Here’s hoping to see more full-size Sixties and Seventies Yanks in Classic American… I might even take out a sub!

We love big full-size Yanks from the Sixties and Seventies too, in fact anything American turns us on! It’s all about getting the balance right and as you say these cars are a great entry point for any enthusiasts in terms of their initial purchase price. Andy Bennett’s Wildcat restoration has been a true labour of love and we recommend you check it out if you see it at any of the shows of the summer – it’s a Duessie!
