This children’s book stars a rookie racing Mustang called ‘Blue Meanie’. The starring car is in fact based upon Dave’s own project ‘Blue Meanie’ Mustang and the illustrations are amusing and clever. There are a number of recognisable cars from the UK drag scene and cartoonist Colin Hardy has done a nice job of telling the story with what can only be described as a sort of anthropomorphic Ford Mustang.

Written in verse it tells the story of how Meanie goes from illegal street racing to drag racing and undergoes a sort of baptism of fire into the sport and is taught right from wrong by his fellow racing cars and racers after he tries to cheat. I guess you could say it’s a bit of a morality tale, but told in children’s language. There’s even a little glossary at the back to explain the terminology used in the book to any budding drag racers out there. Suitable for kids from the age of four years old.
