ULTIMATE CLASSIC CAR SHOW
Celebrate the style, the glamour and the majesty of classic American iron as the NEC in Birmingham once again hosts the biggest and best classic car show in the UK.
The Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show with discovery+ returns for its 38th year from Friday to Sunday, November 11-13.
Many new features have been added to create even more of a feel-good atmosphere.
There’ll be traders, dealers and autojumble, Sporting Bears Dream Rides, cars for sale, Silverstone Auctions, Practical Classics’ Practical Challenge, celebrity meet and greets, demonstrations and much more. And the feather in the cap of Classic American magazine will be the grand finale of our Car of the Year competition, which is the culmination of an annual summerlong search for the best American classic car in the UK and is sponsored by Kingstown Shipping.
Over the past few months a host of classic American cars have been polished and preened by their owners and put on display at some of the top American car shows up and down the land. Of the fantastic finalists, just one will emerge as this year’s Classic American Car of the Year, and will feature on the cover of the February 2023 issue.
Take a look at our website www.classic-american.com to see previous winners.
Of course, the best American vehicles are not just restricted to cars – They include trucks, vans and bikes. Some of the brands and clubs expected to attend include:
■ Corvette Club
■ Dodge Viper Club of Great Britain
■ Edsel UK Owners Group
■ Official US Cop Cars UK
■ Mustang Owners Club of Great Britain
Other rod and regional American clubs:
■ National Street Rod Association
■ Mopar Muscle Association
■ Outlaw Anglias
■ Coleshillautobreakfastmeet
■ Splinter Cell Car Club
■ Medway Monkeys
As well as looking back to the heyday of magnificent stateside metal, this year’s show will also be taking a look at the present – and also into the future.
The new ‘restomods’ feature highlights the fusion of classic and modern. This growing trend gives you the best of both worlds, fitting classic/retro vehicles with modern features, while maintaining their classic spirit and guaranteeing them a new life for years to come.
The Classic Motor Show will also take a look at alternative fuels including hydrogen, ethanol, methanol, butanol, vegetable and waste-derived oils and electricity.
You’ll be able to wander the halls and get your fix of motoring magic, as more than 600 exhibitors will be showcasing in excess of 3000 vehicles over the weekend.
Former Beatle Paul McCartney’s 1972 Wings Over Europe tour bus will also be taking pride of place at the show. And as if that wasn’t enough, this open top bus will feature a live band to keep the atmosphere buzzing.
But don’t think this amazing event is for petrolheads only – it’s a family show, so start ‘em early in the classic American habit. One day, they may thank you for it!
