WESTLAND’S TOURS OF THE WEST

The Westland Classic MCC have two charity runs across the West Country coming up. The Spirit of the Sixties Charity run on Sunday, May 10, starts at the Fleet Air Arm Museum Yeovilton and takes riders on a route around Dorset, Devon and Somerset. On the 2019 run nearly 70 per cent of the bikes were more than 40 years old. The route is different every year. On June 28 the club organises the annual Coast to Coast Run, from the picturesque seaside town of Lyme Regis in Dorset to the faded Edwardian glamour of Burnham-on-Sea. THEY’RE OFF! (TO KEMPTON)

The legendary Kempton Park racecourse usually echoes to the thunder of hooves but on May 16 it’s thundering motorcycles that are the focus in the leafy suburbs of west London. The hall below the racecourse’s main stand is the home of the one-day Southern Classic Motorcycle Show which has been using the venue for nearly 30 years. Dozens of clubs will be present and there will be host of top-notch private entries from the painstakingly restored to well-used daily transports, as well as a sizable number of impressive specials.

The show sits alongside a friendly motorcycle jumble where every stallholder seems to know their neighbour, many of the 250 or so traders crossing hundreds of miles and even national borders to be there.

STONE CIRCLE ON THE MOVE

On Sunday, May 24, the Wiltshire branch of the BSA Owners’ Club will be holding their third Stone Circle bike show. This year the show is going on tour to a new venue, The Supermarine Sports Club, at South Marston, just North of Swindon. The club are looking forward to welcoming guests to the new, larger venue offering the same high standard of exhibits, the same friendly greetings, spacious well organised parking, trade stalls, autojumble space, authentic rock’n’roll band Josie and the Outlaw, and of course cakes.
