Want to know more about dirt track?
The DTRA (dirttrackriders.co.uk) are running five race weekends this year, starting at Kings Lynn arena on May 8th-9th. The vintage races are what we love, but there are other great championships, including the Hooligans races for large Harley and Indians – definitely worth a watch. Competitors are friendly and mostly just there for the crack. There ain’t no money or glory in this!
We went to Champions flat track school in Lincolnshire, run by Pete Boast and the team, who couldn’t do enough for you. It cost £140 each for the day; just turn up with your usual riding gear and boots – they provide the steel shoe and bike. See flattrackschool.co.uk
There’s also Gary Birtwistle (excellent pro flat track rider) and his school, Dirt Craft, who run dates throughout the year using Royal Enfield bikes. Check out dirtcraft.co.uk
