G80 499cc OHC single || 390lb || 55mpg 95mph || 1987-90
The once-famous marque was offered a new lease of life from a new home in Newton Abbot in Devon, being made by LF Harris who were looking for a model to replace their Bonnevilles. Only one model was offered with a Rotax-engined 500cc single, either with or without a second front brake disc. The frame, designed by Triumph engineer Brian Jones and based on the Triumph Adventurer/BSAB50 item, is oil-bearing, light, and neat. Lots of the bits are generic items off Italian models. Many spares are available from either the company (LF Harris) or from Rotax. They can be challenging to start on the kickstartonly models and finish was an issue on early bikes. Given the current slew of new air-cooled singles available from China, the G80 was actually ahead of its time.
