Brakes can be broken

-

I've had BSAs since 1959 and have never had a problem with the brakes. I noticed on the Super Rocket on the front cover of June's CBG, that the operating arm is in the off position and is well past 90 degrees, which could mean the shoes or linings could be worn or the square on operating arm or cam is worn. The arm should be at 90 degrees when fully applied when they were new. It is possible to put the operating arm on back to front, too.

Dear William, many thanks for your advice. Many drum brake owners could benefit from this – I’ve just checked my B31 and though it works fine, mine is looking a little high! – Matt
