For what it’s worth… Ed
Rob didn't take to the LE, but I love them. If comparing performance to a 650cc twin, then it will lose. And in the looks department, only its mother could appreciate it. But the LE was more than a poster bike – it was using motorcycling to answer a question; that of modern, uncomplicated travel, for those not necessarily into bikes. By the time the bike had gone through a few changes, it really should have been an answer to many people's journey and economical needs. Bikes are destined to be merely fun hobbies nowadays and before; but the LE and to a lesser degree, Honda's heavier Deauville (another much maligned machine) attempted to utilise biking as something much more important. On B-roads or smaller, if you ridicule small-engined bikes it's only you that will be missing out. Matt
