Engine: 400-450cc four-stroke twins Weight: 174-179kg Top speed: 105mph Year: 1976-1987 Essentially half a GS750, so very well built. The 400 battled for sales against RD400s, so it never sold in huge numbers. 425/450 became dispatcher’s favourites. GSX versions (there’s a 250 as well) are arguably overcomplicated for what’s on offer. Many were sacrificed as bobbers/café racers/brats etc. The 400 is now becoming recognised as a decent all-rounder classic.
