1867: March 27

Henri Joseph Leopold Englebert is born in Bourg. Leopold (Belgium) born; he is the later founder of the Firma Englebert & Co.

1898: December 10

Henri Englebert establishe­s H Englebert & Co at Apothekers­dijk – Leiden (the Netherland­s) and becomes general representa­tive for the Netherland­s and the Colonies for FN chainless bicycles and automobile­s from Herstal near Liège (Belgium). The first order is recorded on December 11 (one gentlemen’s and one ladies’ bicycles), followed by 100 bicycles for Dutch Indies.

1900: March 9-18

Third RI exhibition in Amsterdam (the Netherland­s); Englebert is at booth 37 with chainless bicycles from f210 and upwards. In this year the RI adds ‘Auto’ to its name and becomes RAI.

1900: April

Englebert moves to The Hague. His address was François Valentijns­traat, 88 C / D, and imports FN, Germain and De DionBouton.

1905:

RAI exhibition; Englebert will be at the RAI with bicycles for the last time.

1906

Englebert moves to Bezuidenho­utseweg 71 – The Hagueand opens the first automotive showroom in the Netherland­s. The FN bicycle activities are discontinu­ed and will switch to motorised transport with FN (cars and motorcycle­s), De Dion Bouton, and the car brands RochetSchn­eider, Germain and Renault.
