Street Scrambler

This is not a scrambler – let’s get that out first. But there are enough little traits that mean those tempting, easy trails in summer could be explored. For example, the tyres, while not motocross style, do have a decent grip. The front wheel is 19in and suspension has got 120mm travel, just enough for mild lanes, and the three-way rider modes have an off-road setting that allows traction and ABS to be off – so you can pull skids! While the Street Scrambler apes that off-road look as is popular with customizers, it’s a road bike... a city bike, even. And for that, it’s good. It also has the same seat height as the T100, despite the off-road pretensions. Those ‘bars are higher and the footrests are forward to give you a more upright position. And you seem to be able to hear it better, those distinctive exhausts being higher. Long journeys are not its forte, however, as the upright position means you feel like you’re holding on too much. The road bikes have you canted forward more. Details are lovely, with brushed aluminium everywhere and quality for all to see.

Who would it suit? Someone who wants to look a little different, city riders, and those who don’t use throw-over panniers
