The Honda CBR600F was the Triumph T120 Bonneville of the 1990s in many ways. It gave everything to the everyman and it did it really well – still can. For just £1500 you can get a great, reliable, championship-winning bike that in years to come will be starting the ‘I had one of those’ conversations, while taking you on a tour, with lights that work, a seat that doesn’t cripple, brakes that stop you, and looks that (in most opinions) are still cracking. It is also one of the most perfect bikes for a first restoration, as parts are available and inexpensive, and its metric and there are no Achilles’ heels. Yes, it does deserve to be a classic.
