Getting steamed-up about modern classics

-

The Great Dorset Steam Fair, the huge celebration of Britain’s Industrial History which is held on a 600 acre site each summer, will be introducing a Modern Classic Motorcycle Section this year. Organiser Martin Oliver said: “We are always looking to evolve and we now feel the time is right to open up the show to ‘younger’ motorcycle exhibits. “For many years we have been asked by the public and by modern classic owners to consider the inclusion of a modern classic motorcycle section. With the GDSF now entering its 52nd year, visitors who grew up in the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s tell us that they would love to revisit their youth and see modern classic bikes at the show.”

Norman Macbeth, who lives near Blandford, Dorset has been appointed as section leader. Anyone wishing to be considered as an exhibitor at the 2022 show can contact him at norman. macbeth@gdsf.co.uk with full details of your classic motorcycle including make, model, year of manufacture, history, whether restored, unrestored etc together with a recent photograph. The Modern Classic Motorcycle Section will cover the years 1970 to 1995.

The aim is to have an inclusive range of exhibits to reflect the era and all applications will be considered.

The Great Dorset Steam Fair is held at Tarrant Hinton, Blandford Forum DT11 8HX from August 25-29.
