Triumph T120 Thruxton Bonneville
My final choice was this lovely 1965 Triumph T120 Thruxton Bonneville. My dad had a Bonnie in his youth, so I always have a look at them to see what all the fuss is about. I get it – they are beautiful and hopefully, one day, I may be able to own dad’s Bonnie again. I picked this Thruxton because I could imagine going into a showroom and seeing this racing bike on a plinth. It is the first of the 52 production racing Thruxton Bonnevilles built in 1965. It was raced by motorcycle journalist Ray Knight at Snetterton; it was his first race on the bike and he achieved two wins in the Bantam class. The bike was later reunited with Ray on the Isle of Man in 2019, where he completed two laps of the Jurby circuit before signing his name and racing number on the tank. A gorgeous bike with a great history.
