Kawasaki heaven
Hidden away is a private collection of unmolested Kawasaki bikes that could help restorers...
To many in our industry, motorcycles are just another product that you take a slice from to put bread on the table. However, the original Swiss distributor of Kawasaki were somewhat more. It took one example of each model Kawasaki made out of its crate, built it up – dry – and put it on a plinth. Every model, from the W1 that Meguro had designed under licence from BSA of the A7 to the Z1000 from when they were bought out about 15 years ago. The new owners didn’t wish to continue but to their credit, keep the collection on private display at their facility.
The tragedy is you can’t go to see these bikes. Motocrossers to kids’ bikes to sportbikes, there is an as-new example – it’s a restorer’s dream to see the finish, the way the cables were routed, or the quality of the paint, especially for Kawasaki, where information has not been as readily available as other makes.
Here is just a taster, if you are interested. I took more, so email me in case the bike you’re looking for is there – I cannot promise!
