EARLY YEARS OF WSB

-

During the two action-packed first years of World Superbike there were rounds at Oran Park, Sydney, and Manfield in New Zealand. At FOS, young Kiwi rider Glen Skachill brought back memories of Bimota’s challenge to Ducati’s 851 and Honda’s RC30 with Mike Webster’s YB8. Bimota’s WSB YB4 was powered by Yamaha’s FZ750 20-valve inline four Genesis motor; Webster’s version is a similar-looking YB8, which uses an FZR1000 engine. “It’s up to spec as a competitive racer for its class of classic racing,” said Webster, “but I’ve tried to make everything on it look original and in keeping with that amazing period of superbike racing.”
