HOW MY BIKES BECAME BEASTS OF BURDEN

-

The main picture above is me with my 1000cc Vincent in 1953 at Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire. The one below is me with my MAC Velocette, on my way to Devon (note sophisticated luggage equipment). Below right is me, having married and produced two children, with my family transport – a Vincent 1000cc combination, taken in 1963 at Sherborne on the way to the Dorset coast. I am now 92 years old and have ridden all my life, with Vincents from 1953-93, followed by a series of Moto Guzzis. Following that, I had a V-twin Honda, which was stolen two years ago – I am saving up now to try and replace it.

Having ridden for 74 years (1942-2016), I don’t intend to give up just yet, as being without a bike for two years is like having a limb amputated. Keep up the good work – the magazine gets better with every issue. John EA West, St Helens
