Don Emde was the emerging road racing star in the BSA factory team and brought his 1970spec Rocket III home in third place to complete a clean sweep for the Brit triples. He would go on to win the Daytona 200 the following year on a Mel Dinsen 350 Yamaha backed by US newspaper Motorcycle Weekly. Emde’s dad Floyd had won the 200 back in 1948 on an Indian Scout; they were the only father and son duo to ever win the prestigious Daytona race.
