SPRING IS IN THE AIR

A blooming great selection of 150 bikes expected for seasonal sale

-

It looks like being a busy couple of months for H&H Auctions. Following hot on the heels of their online sale on March 24, they return to the National Motorcycle Museum on April 28 for the first of three sales scheduled at the West Midlands venue this year. The catalogue was still open as we went to press, but a number of tempting machines have already been consigned.

If you’ve always hankered after a Velocette Venom, but been put off by the infamous Velo kickstart, this 1959 example might be just the thing. It’s been recently fitted with an Alton electric starter, so the new owner will never have to suffer one of those embarrassing moments, flailing away red-faced at the kickstart at the head of a queue of traffic. It’s described as being a real rider’s bike, and comes fitted with a replacement engine that has been overhauled (receipts are available) and its estimate of £10,00012,000 reflects that.

There’s also a delightful 1937 Matchless Model X with Noxal ‘launch’ sidecar, which has been in the same ownership for the last 40 years. The late owner used the outfit extensively in both the UK and Europe, though it has not been used for the last couple of years and will require some recommissioning. Its estimate is £20,000-24,000.

H&H expect to have around 150 bikes in the sale, so keep an eye on their website for further additions. handh.co.uk
