Keeping it in the club

VMCC members hook up to thin out collection

They may not be the best-known auction house in the classic bike world, but Canterbury Auction Galleries’ online April sale looks like one to watch if two of the early confirmed lots are anything to go by. A local VMCC member with a significant collection approached fellow club member Dave Parker (who happens to be the auction company’s managing director) when he made the decision to thin out his collection.

A 1961 Norton Dominator 99 – a one-owner machine in stunning, original condition – is estimated at £5000-7000, while a lovely 1951 AJS Model 18CS replica, fully refurbished and ready for the road, carries the same estimate. Both should be joined by several more machines from the collection – and if they’re as good as these two, the sale should do well.
