Pocket cruiser arrives on piggy back

-

In mid-October, Woodbridge Boatyard took another pocket cruiser into its brokerage and it was a great demonstration of how well the working river community on the Deben co-operates.

This very pretty 22ft (6.7m) Dan Webb Four Tonner had been at Melton Boatyard for some time and now needs to find a new home. With its small classic boat brokerage and reputation for restoring pocket cruisers, it was decided that she should move downriver to Woodbridge Boatyard. Catspaw’s condition is good, with little work needed but some of her keelbolts had been removed before she was last covered up so she couldn’t float downriver in the normal way. Instead, she was loaded on to local waterman Tam Grundy’s barge Patricia G and towed with one of his tugs, the Ben Michael. Having stemmed onto Woodbridge

Boatyard’s quay, the Maldon-built boat was craned ashore and is now available for viewing ashore and online. “We look forward to her finding a new owner and her return to being afloat in a more conventional manner,” said yard manager Matt Liss.
