Honour for Sir Chay

-

Sir Chay Blyth has been honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award from our sister title Sailing Today with Yachts & Yachting.

The trophy was presented to Sir Chay at the British Yachting Awards, which took place on 30 November at the Royal Thames Yacht Club in London.

The trophy was made specially for the event by historic chandler Davey & Co. Sir Chay attended the event with his wife Lady Felicity. Group editor Rob Peake said: “The award recognises Sir Chay’s pioneering sailing exploits, 50 years ago, and the impetus that he subsequently gave others in their own sailing. He has made a huge contribution to the sailing world, from his exploits in the Golden Globe Race, to competing in the Whitbread, to founding the Global Challenge races, which introduced many people to sailing and gave a platform to the skippers, many of whom have gone onto still greater things, not least Mike Golding, Dee Caffari and Conrad Humphreys.” britishyachtingawards.com
