Mule-Class Brixham trawler

-

A Brixham Trawler built in 1924 as a ‘Mule Class’ (referring to her size – Provident is 70ft/21m in length). She fished with a crew of three men and a boy for six years, before being bought by a wealthy American and converted to a yacht by Morgan Giles. She was bought in 1951 by Island Cruising Club founder John Baylay, which was the start of her charter career that has continued until the present day. Provident was rebuilt between 1986 and 1990. In recent times, she’s been professionally maintained on an ongoing basis, with a recent new deck and main engine. She is currently coded under the MCA to Category Two and is being sold with all the necessary gear and equipment to work under those regulations. Provident o ers overnight berths for up to 16.
