Tasmania ready for the big one
The Australian Wooden Boat Festival will be held again after a two-year break, from 10-13 February 2023, on Hobart’s waterfront, and registrations are now open.
The waterfront festival is held biennially over four days on the Hobart Regatta long-weekend, with tens of thousands of visitors and around 450 wooden vessels normally attending on land and water. With the ongoing support of the state government, Events Tasmania and TasPorts, the festival has become “one of Tasmania’s greatest free events”. The organisers invite “wooden boats of all shapes and sizes” to enter. Boat manager Roscoe Barnett has already confirmed the attendance of 10 tall ships from Tasmania alone, with eight months still to go.
