Lifeboat yacht
There was time for a quick whip around the sheds at Su olk Yacht Harbour in Levington, Su olk this June, while there to see the 1937 motor yacht Ryegate and the newly-sheathed 1961 Stella Timoa (more on these in future issues). In the shed was Jemima, Kim Holman’s glassfibre retirement yacht, that’s just had a new iroko deck. There is also a Swan 43 having a comprehensive refit. In the spray booth, the second
Stella was already receiving the lifesaving sheathing treatment. Clearly, the idea has caught on in this ageing fleet of lightly-built clinker yachts.
The big job, though, is the lifeboat yacht Swyn Y More. She’s been around the world and more in her years afloat. A new owner is doing much of the work himself and hiring blocks of time o SYH boatbuilders for the rest.
