Wheeler Dealers set up in LA, but there’s still muck, sweat and tears

-

A new series of the immensley popular Wheeler Dealers will be coming to television screens on Monday 9 May on the Discovery Channel.

Celebrity car-nut presenters Mike Brewer and Edd China return for the show’s 13th series where eight more classis will get the WD treatment.

The British pair has set up a workshop in California, USA, where they have a diverse and unusual range of American, British, German and Japanese vehicle restorstion projects to work on.

In the new series the duo gets eco-friendly with the original ‘Econobox’, a 1977 Honda Civic. They also rescue a neglected and extremely rusty 1965 Land Rover Series IIa, and put the zip back into the performance of a 1980s muscle icon, the 1988 Ford Mustang 5.0.

The tried and tested show formula sees Mike navigating the States in search of classics with moneymaking potential, and Edd restoring them.

In the first episode Mike and Edd pick a 1980s icon – a 1987 Mercedes-Benz 560SL. Mike manages to track down a good example – but it’s in need of a complete refresh, mechanically and cosmetically. As the costs and work mount up will Edd worries it will break the bank…

Mike says: ‘After restoring more than 100 cars over the last 12 series, Edd and I are still finding fantastic classics to restore. It really is fun.’

In another twist, the new series will see Edd getting more involved in choosing the type of car the pair will be looking for each week, while Mike will be taking a turn in actually getting his hands dirty in the workshop.

Edd adds: ‘We may appear to be basking in the Los Angeles sunshine but the job in hand remains the same. Our brand spanking new workshop will see the same amount of muck, sweat and tears as the previous one in Bracknell. It just so happens that we now have the Pacific Coast Highway outside rather than the M25.’ Watch Wheeler Dealers, 9pm, Monday 9 May (Sky 520, Virgin 250, BT TV 322, TalkTalk 322)
