WHY I LOVE MY CITROËN CX

A proper Citroën enthusiast, George also owns a DS but reckons he’s found his perfect car in the CX. ‘I owned a DTR diesel model in 2000 and really missed it,’ he says. ‘A CX makes every journey an adventure and it was a car I really looked forward to driving. It was a real buzz, so now that I’ve got another it feels like my car collection is complete. I bought this 1988 GTi Turbo 2 recently. When I saw it on eBay I wanted to see it straightaway. It’s in very good condition, there’s no rust and it’s mechanically sound. I’ve already won a prize with it at a Citroën show, so I’m really happy with it. I’m using it as my daily driver. The CX is a car you have to spend time with so you can really get to know it. Then it makes complete sense, but a short drive just doesn’t demonstrate how brilliant they are. I find them very comfortable and refined, and buying this one made me realise how much I love them.’
