WHO Nic Britton WHAT 1988 Audi 90 quattro MILES 176,903 PROVENANCE Been in family most of its life MODS Wheels, clocks, exhaust HOW MANY LEFT? 23

HOW LONG HAVE YOU HAD IT?

I acquired the car in December 2011, for the princely sum of one pound! How did I come across it? It was previously my dad’s car and he’d bought it in 1996… from my mum. So I know the car quite well. It’s the ‘B3’ series body and has the 2.2-litre five-cylinder 136bhp engine. The mileage currently reads 166,903, and that keeps going up quite quickly as I do like going out for a drive in it. As I have changed the clocks I have to add 10,000 to get to the correct mileage that the car’s done.

HOW MUCH HISTORY?

I’ve got folders full of all the stuff that’s been done to the car over the years, and as it’s been in my family for most of its life, we are all very familiar with it.

WHAT’S LEFT TO DO ON IT?

So far most of what I’ve done to the car has been mainly to deal with all the usual mechanical wear and tear that you’d expect of a car of this age. However, I do want to get it resprayed at some point – then I’ll be really happy with it.

HAS IT BEEN MODIFIED?

The only modifications we’ve carried out on the car are the white TSW alloy wheels, plus the white (there’s possibly an emerging theme here) clocks from an Audi 90 Series 2. The exhaust is also non-original, but the only reason for this is that I had to get something made up specially for the car; as it’s now almost 30 years old, standard ones are apparently no longer available for it.
