CRAIG MANN
Citroën Saxo
Craig hasn’t wasted much time upgrading the Saxo 1.6 VTR he bought last year. It’s his daily driver, and he’s done all of the work himself. He says: ‘It needed work, including a replacement rear axle. I’ve lowered the car, while up front there are Peugeot 206 GTi brakes. The engine has seen a lot of work as it’s now fitted with a Saab 9-3 turbocharger with an aftermarket manifold, custom downpipe and universal intercooler. There are also braided oil lines and a slimline fan as clearance is limited. It’s also got bigger injectors (from a Porsche Cayenne). I haven’t dyno’d it yet, but I would expect it to produce around 180-190bhp – the safe limit. The 16-valve engine can reliably produce 230bhp but the eight-valve has more low-down torque.’
